Acne is a skin problem that happens when tiny openings in the skin get plugged with oil and dead skin cells. This can cause blackheads, whiteheads, small red bumps, larger painful bumps or deep cysts. Acne can be mild or more serious and sometimes can leave marks or scars.

You do not always need to see a doctor first. If your acne symptoms are mild, our pharmacists may be able to prescribe topical treatments to help clear your skin.

Please note that an appointment with the pharmacist does not guarantee a prescription. The pharmacist will assess your symptoms and decide if treatment at the pharmacy is right for you, or if you should be referred to a doctor.
